Imaging Services at each clinic location includes basic Diagnostic X-Rays to reveal problems with bones and related injuries, features of the heart, lungs, digestive tract and can be useful to look for problems with human organs. Tuberculosis and pneumonia can be spotted in X-rays when the lungs swell or fill with fluid. X-rays are conducted on-site in a safe and comfortable environment.
Bone Density Scan
At our Three Rivers Community Health – Hickman clinic location we offer state of the art bone density testing (known as DXA or DEXA Scan) to evaluate patients for osteoporosis and osteopenia. A bone density test uses X-rays to measure how many grams of calcium and other bone minerals are packed into a segment of bone. It is important to note that having osteopenia is not the same as having osteoporosis, and that technically, osteopenia is not in and of itself a disease, as osteoporosis is. Instead, osteopenia is an indication that your BMD is below the statistical norm and that you could eventually develop osteoporosis or be at risk of a future fracture.
Ask your Provider if you are at risk and if you need a bone density test. If you are a patient at Perry County Medical Center, your Provider can refer you to Three Rivers Community Health in Hickman County.
